New Shopping Site Revolutionizes Search & Shop

February 23rd, 2009

I just learned of a new shopping internet site - Shopwiki.com. You’ve heard of Wikipedia right? Well, just take that concept and apply it to shopping! With shopwiki you can search for literally anything and this engine, which scans the internet much like a the Google spiders do, can bring all links an tons of information for that item to your fingertips within seconds.

An example would be my search for wireless routers. In this example the site produced an overwhelming amount of information about wireless routers, including the subject of access points and safety. What is so amazing about Shopwiki is that each link brings more details about the product. I clicked on the specific router maker - D-Link and a new page is shown with all the data I could ask for related to D-link routers.

I believe ShopWiki will soon be as common place as Wikipedia and Google when it comes to consumer information. I have never seen a one stop shop and such convenience for product information online. Amazing!

ESPN Reality Show for Madden Football Video Game

November 15th, 2007

ESPN has taken Madden Football to a new level of promotion with their reality series. ESPN sponsors a bus full of Madden freaks from around the country. These guys (and girl) play each other in pairs with a survivor type atmosphere. Lose too many times and you’ll be kicked off the bus, only to be replaced by a new comer from a stop at the next city. Eventually there will be 2 Madden Masters left to play for the championship at Times Square. How cool.

Play #6 on the List of the Greatest Moments in Video Game Football History- Jerome Bettis’ Amazing Run!

October 26th, 2006

Play #6 on our list of the greatest in football video game history takes place in 1993, Bill Walsh College Football. Reggie Brooks and Jerome Bettis formed the greatest pair of running backs in college football history. Play 6 is the most amazing run ever in Bill Walsh or NCAA College Football on EA sports in history.

Jerome Bettis, running against Texas took a hand off up the middle. A small hole openned up and Bettis hit it hard. Soon it collapsed around him and he was hit by 2 diving linemen at the same time. He busted through their tackles spinning away. A the same time, he as hit again and he spun off a linebacker, he then had to jump over a pile of blocked defenders he had just run over, he spun out of another tackle and headed left toward the side line. He then spun out of 2 more tackles, jumped over another diving corner back and sprinted up the sideline. A free safety from the other side of the field caught up with Bettis by taking a good angle on him. Bettis cut back to the right and spun off his attempted tackle. That allowed 2 more defensive backs to catch him and he was brought down at the 9 yard line. it was a 71 yard run that included 10 broken and avoided tackles - almost the entire defense! It was one of many highlights Bettis and Brooks produced on their way to another championship.

Play #5 on the List of the Greatest Moments in Video Game Football History- Bobby Taylor Dominates!

October 24th, 2006

#5 on our list of the greatest plays and moments in video game football history is the game Bobby Taylor had in 1995. The season was on Bill Walsh College Football 95. Not since Brian Bosworth had a college football video game produced such a dominate defensive player. Bobby Taylor was a free safety on Notre Dame during a season when they were going for their 3rd straight championship. Taylor possessed the kind of speed not seen since the likes of Bo Jackson or D.J. Duckett. He would crush running backs, intercept passes, sack the QB, and blocked kicks. He could single handedly win games for the Irish. Notre Dame rolled into Iowa State as a huge favorite and ended up scoring 98 points in the game, the largest total ever. The was largely due to what may be the most dominant performance in a single game by a single player ever.

Bobby Taylor intercepted 2 passes, recorded 6 QB sacks on safety blitzes, blocked a field goal that was returned for a TD, and blocked 2 punts, one of which was also returned for a TD. He would go on to have a Hall of Fame career in Madden Football on the Philidelphia Eagles.

Play #4 on the List of the Greatest Plays in Video Game Football History-Bo Jackson Breaks Out!

October 18th, 2006

#4 of the most amazing performance in college football video game history. It is one of Bo Jackson’s unbreakable records. Bo Jackson on Auburn ‘84 in Bill Walsh College Football is unreal. The man is a hulk of pure simulation speed, size, and terror. Unstoppable. There has never been, nor will there ever be such a dominant player in the world of football video games. In one game, Bo Jackson rushed for 641 yards on 26 carries, averaging over 24 yards per carry. He also rushed for another record 8 TD’s. His college records will never be broken for several reasons. 1st, there may never be another player this dominant. Reggie Brooks of Notre Dame was the closest. 2nd, and most importantly, the video games of today keep getting more closer to real life simulation, making such dominance almost impossible, players get tired, etc. So, just as in real life it is hard to compare different generations of players, video games have the same problem, but for different reasons.

Play #3 on the List of the Greatest Plays in Video Game Football History-The Kick

October 17th, 2006

The 3rd Greatest Moment in Video Game Football History is the greatest kick of college football in video game history. Tennessee’s Kicker on the 1986 Championship team (Bill Walsh College Football simulation game) kicked the game winning field goal as time expired to give Tennessee the championship. As if it wasn’t enough that is was a game winner - the field goal was a 60 yarder!!!! No one expects this record field goal to ever be beaten, and to kick that under that pressure is beyond words.
